Mission

A church on mission together

Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” At Cornerstone, we encourage the whole church to participate in this Mission in a way that is personal, local, and global. Sharing the good news of Jesus is done with both words and actions. As we all look for opportunities to help each other and meet the needs of those around us, we try to coordinate our efforts with others of like mind. On this page, you can find our community ministries, local partnerships, and global partnerships, and have another page for refugee sponsorship. We raise funds for our partners and projects through 3 special Mission Offerings each year: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. You can give to Mission through our usual giving options, simply designate it to “Mission”.

Global Partnerships

“Go into all the world…”

Lebanon

The Haddads serve with Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) as team leaders for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Elie serves as President of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) in Beirut, Lebanon. ABTS equips leaders for the Church in the entire Arabic-speaking world. Mireille serves with Heart for Lebanon, a Christian NGO that provides humanitarian aid and relief to marginalized people groups, including the ever-increasing number of refugees. Learn more about ministry in Lebanon on the CBM website.

If you would like to learn more about the Haddads or send them an encouraging note, you can find them through their profile on CBM’s website.

Cornerstone encourages a personal level of global engagement through individually sponsoring children via Compassion. Members of Cornerstone have sponsored over 100 children in more than 14 countries around the world. In the Fall of 2015, a team from Cornerstone went to visit their sponsor children in Bolivia, where dozens of people had sponsored children. In 2019 our church raised enough money to launch a Child Development Centre in El Salvador, with the hope that we will sponsor children from there and someday take a team to visit.

Refugee Sponsorship

So far, Cornerstone has sponsored two refugee families from Syria. Visit the Refugee Sponsorship page to learn more.

Planning to go on a mission trip?

Each year Cornerstone sets aside some money to help support people going on mission trips. Contact Pastor Gordon with details about your trip (where, when, what you’ll be doing, costs, etc.) and the mission committee will be in touch.
